Workplace Policy and Procedure Development for Sustainability
Question: Discuss about the Workplace Policy and Procedure for Development for Sustainability. Answer: Vision The vision of developing the workplace policy and procedure is to maintain the values and expectation of the employees of a workplace. Workplace policies and procedures reinforce and clarify the standard operating process in a workplace. According to Lay et al. 2017, the vision of developed policies and procedure help the employees and employers to define the acceptable and unacceptable performance and behaviours in a workplace. The developed policies and procedures will help the employees and employers both. The developed workplace policies and procedures will help the employees and employers to be more attentive. However, the developing process should be understandable. Mission The mission to develop policies and procedures is to achieve the objectives and goals of the organization more successfully. The developing process may take long time and the process can be expensive for the workplace. The organization should explain the reason of developing the policies and procedures to the employees as it may create confusion in the employees and cause of conflict with the management (Goh et al., 2017). The mission of the development of policies and procedures is to make a strong position in the market. Purpose Workplace policy and procedure refers to the formal set out of intended policies and procedures to state the goals and objectives clearly. Workplace policy and procedure set up the boundaries for the acceptable behaviour and the guidelines for the best practices in a particular work condition. The workplace policy and procedure offer a clear communication to the employees as per the expectation o the acts. According to Reinhold, Jrvis and Tint (2015), policy contributes the general culture of workplace. The policies help to install the norms and values. The workplace can communicate with the employees via the company handbook and policy manual. The purpose to develop the policy is that the employees can understand the rules and regulation of the company in well manner and maintain the policies and procedure. The purpose of developing the policies and procedures shows the clear value to state the policies and procedures thoroughly and clearly. The managers, members of board of directors and the HR management should be involved in the development of the policies and procedures. However, Bohatko-Naismith et al. (2015) mentioned that the employees and the workers should be involved in the policy and procedure development. They can give their opinion in the development process. The main purpose of developing the policies is to meet with the employees need of health and safety. The employees can share their views on the policy development. Frone (2013) stated that the employees should feel safe and easy to maintain the developed policies and it should not harm the employees and workers. Before developing the policies and procedure, the board of directors should arrange a meeting with the responsible persons to make a plan of implementing the new policies and procedures. A draft of new policies should be formed and checked thoroughly if any changes are needed (Wood, Saundry Latreille, 2014). References Bohatko-Naismith, J., James, C., Guest, M., Rivett, D. A. (2015).
